In-Depth Flight Experience
Check-In at Changi Airport
The wonderful journey on Starlux begins as we enter Singapore Changi Airport at 1pm, checking in to my seat and being given the flight ticket. After being told that the gate was C13 and my seat was 30D, I proceeded to the gate swiftly, as the boarding time was nearing. The check-in process was very smooth and had no issues.
Boarding the bird
Given the sheer number of people boarding on this flight to Taipei, nearly all seats were full, with many people rushing to board the aircraft. Boarding was easy, and I gave a light pat on the aircraft’s fuselage near the door for good luck, and proceeded onto the aircraft. The flight attendants were extremely nice and friendly, showing me the way to my seat. I really appreciated the service given by the flight attendants.
The seat
Given my seat of 30D, it was a bulkhead seat, essentially meaning that I get more legroom than other economy passengers and the space was quite comparable. The In-Flight Entertainment screen was at an appropriate distance from my eyes, also a great way to start out my flight. I really appreciated the extra legroom :).
Takeoff and Meal Service
Takeoff went smoothly and we rotated off runway 20L. Off we went into the skies, leaving the Lion City behind. After climbing to our cruising altitude of FL390, the flight attendants first started serving the drinks. I started off with a simple apple juice, as a starter. One thing caught my attention, while other airlines were using plastic cups, Starlux gave a beautiful cup with the airline logo on the cups! How wonderful! I really liked the cups given as they looked really nice. And here comes the good part, the meal service. I would likely say that the meal service provided by Starlux Airlines is comparable to Qatar Airways! The economy class managed to serve a selection of food, including: Chicken Drumstick, Seafood and other tasty food selections. I chose the Chicken Drumstick, and as I took my first bite, it shocked me. The food tasted excellent, and given that it was economy class food, I was extremely impressed. Then there was a side dish of Pasta, which has a tinge of spice, but also retaining the original flavour of the Pasta, tasted really amazing. Then the pudding, with the mango bottom coupled with the cake-like snowy white pudding, it ended up tasting just like first class food! Now I am really impressed by Starlux.
The Airbus A350-900
Starlux’s Airbus A350-900 uses the 3-3-3 configuration for economy class and the 2-4-2 configuration for the premium economy class, and these seats are sorted out evenly so as to ensure the comfort of passengers and the ease of walking around. Premium economy sure had plenty of legroom too! I also paid a visit to the lavatory, which was quite spacious, and with some amenities.
Arrival into Taipei
This part really wowed me the most. As the aircraft made its descent into Taipei, there was very little turbulence and I could barely feel anything. Starlux pilots really nailed the descent into Taoyuan! The flight attendants did a final walk around the cabin to prepare the cabin for arrival. And the landing was pretty awesome. Wonderful skills to say the least!
My opinion on this flight
I would like to commend the flight attendants and the pilots of JX772 on 20/11/2023. The flight attendants work really hard to ensure the safety and comfort of all the passengers on board and the in-flight service of Starlux was just absolutely amazing, comparable to Qatar Airways. Starlux deserves to be on the Top 5 Airlines list based on my first ever flight with Starlux. The quality of the service is 5/5 for sure, cleanliness of aircraft is also 5/5! To be honest, Starlux really exceeded my expectations on this flight. Hope the flight attendants and pilots of the flight today get commendation for their excellent work!
