In-Depth Flight Experience
Airport Experience

Our trip starts off at Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 1. When I arrived at around 6.30, there was already a large queue formed-quite a rare sight to see in business class queues nowadays. After a 30 minute long wait, I finally checked in, and headed to immigration and security, which took another 15 minutes.

Plaza Premium Lounge

Emirates Business and First Class passengers are invited to the Plaza Premium Lounge near gate 35 of HKIA. However, it seemed that the lounge was specially for Emirates passengers when I visited it. The lounge was quite "narrow" in a way, and the food options were quite limited but still okay. I did not eat anything, however, as I just had my dinner at the airport.

Boarding and Takeoff

Boarding was going to be swift and fast. Or so I thought. Moments after boarding was announced, people rushed to get their tickets scanned- talk about priority boarding!

Once I boarded the plane, I was warmly welcomed by the lovely set of crew, and shown to my seat, 9K. The seat was in a 1-2-1 configuration, as with all Emirates A380s. I was given a glass of apple juice as a pre-departure beverage. After around 30 minutes, boarding was completed, and the doors were closed. The aircraft soon began pushback, and taxied to runway 07R, and began its takeoff roll. Soon, the aircraft lifted off, and we were headed to Bangkok.

In-Flight Meal Service

For the meal service, I opted for the Prawns with Rice. It was served alongside a smoked duck salad, fruits, as well as a bread roll, and a drink of your choice, which I opted for a Virgin Bloody Mary. The meal was fine, but the only downside was the vegetables- the stems were raw. However, the meal was still quite nice, and I finished all of it.

Aircraft Exploration

After the meal, I decided to explore the A380 a bit. I headed over to the back of the bar, where the legendary Emirates A380 Bar was located. I got a cake, as well as a Virgin Mojito, and had a chat with the crew. After that, I checked out the toilet, which was stocked with Bulgari toiletries, and even had a window in the lavatory.

Landing and Conclusion

Not long after, the pilot started descending into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, and made a rather smooth landing on runway 01L. I viewed the landing via the In-Flight Entertainment System, which had live cameras showing the landing.

So, what did I think of this flight?

It was my first time in Emirates Business Class, and it was certainly a great experience. The crew was friendly, and the plane was generally quite clean. However, the food was definitely not the best I have had on a plane, and the seat was slightly broken, as the armrests were almost falling apart from the seat. However, the experience was generally quite nice, and it would have been better if not for the food and seat.

Cost and Thoughts

I paid around $450 for this flight, which was actually quite a good deal, considering this was a very popular route. As this was a fifth freedom route, it meant less people would be getting off at Bangkok, which was really great. I would definitely give this product a shot on a longer route one day.
