Singapore Airlines (SIA/SQ) has inaugurated yet another new route from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN/WSSS) to London Gatwick Airport (LGW/EGKK) on 21 June 2024. This follows another recently launched flight from Singapore to Brussels, which was inaugurated in April 2024.
The inaugural flight of SQ312, which is operated by a Singapore Airlines Long Haul A350-900 registered 9V-SMQ, took off from Changi Airport at 11.55pm (GMT +8). The 13 hour flight landed in Gatwick Airport at 6.45am (GMT +1).
Originally, Singapore Airlines wanted to operate an additional service to the larger London Heathrow Airport, on top of the four existing daily flights, but the idea was scrapped as slots at Heathrow were nearly impossible to obtain, thus, they decided to operate flights to Gatwick Airport 5 times a week.
The flights will operate every Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The flights are scheduled to depart Changi Airport at 11.55pm (GMT +8) and arrive at Gatwick Airport at 6.30am (GMT +1) the next day.
On the return sector, the flight will depart Gatwick Airport at 10.15am (GMT +1), and arrive in Singapore at 6.20am (GMT +8) the following day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
