Ferry flight for SQ321 passengers stranded in Bangkok lands in Singapore

Following an unfortunate incident involving a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER, Singapore Airlines sent an Airbus A350-900 to Bangkok to pick up passengers affected by the diversion.

On 22 May 2024 at about 5.00am local time (GMT +8), passengers who were due to land at Changi Airport the day prior at 6.30pm finally arrived in Singapore.


Following the unfortunate incident, Singapore Airlines sent an Airbus A350-900 registered 9V-SHH to Bangkok, with the flight number SQ9070. It landed at about 9.53pm local time (GMT +7) The flight contained Singapore Airlines' Crisis Management Team.


At about 2.05am local time (GMT +7), flight SQ9071, operated by the same A350-900, took off from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, bound for Singapore. 131 passengers and 9 crew were on board the relief flight. 79 passengers and 6 crew members chose to remain in Bangkok, either receiving treatment or accompanying family members who may be receiving treatment.


Passengers onboard the relief flight landed at Singapore Changi Airport at about 5.00am local time (GMT +8), where the aircraft taxied to terminal 2. The passengers were received by the CEO of Singapore Airlines, Mr Goh Choon Phong.


The first passenger onboard the flight exited the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 at 5.15am, according to reports. Some passengers boarded 2 shuttle buses, while. others made their way to the taxi queue.


Singapore Airlines has arranged transportation to bring passengers to their final destination in Singapore, either their hotel or their homes. For passengers with connecting flights, SIA has rebooked them on the next available flight and has arranged hotel accommodation or lounge access for them.
