The 5th Freedom Flight was suspended back when COVID 19 struck.

Cathay Pacific (CPA/CX) has resumed its 5th Freedom Flight service from Singapore Changi Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport after nearly 4 years of the route being suspended as a result of COVID 19. The flight to Bangkok, CX712, will depart Singapore at 12.25pm (GMT +8), and arrive at Bangkok at 3.15pm (GMT +7). The return flight back to Singapore, CX717, will depart Bangkok at 12.25pm (GMT +7) and arrive at Singapore at 3.25pm (GMT +8).

The flight will be operated by an Airbus A330-300 (A333), with a 1-2-1 business class layout, and a 2-4-2 economy layout. The aircraft has a total of 262 seats, 223 of which are in the economy cabin, and 39 of which are in the business cabin.

Despite tons of competition on the SIN-BKK sector, Cathay Pacific has high hopes that it will attract many passengers. Dominic Perret, Cathay Pacific's Regional Manager for Southeast Asia, added:

“As we continue to rebuild our connectivity, we are very excited to be resuming our Singapore-Bangkok service after four years. This is a flight route that is much loved by many of our customers. We know that they have been anticipating its return as much as we have, and we certainly look forward to welcoming our Bangkok-bound customers onboard.”

A busy route

The route from Singapore Changi to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is one of the busiest air routes in the world, with over 40 direct return flights every single day. Airlines that operate this route includes Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Scoot, Thai VietJet as well as Jetstar. Another notable 5th Freedom Flight on this route is GF165 operated by Gulf Air's Boeing 787.
