On 14 November 2023, at about 12.10pm (GMT +8), A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) F-16 fighter jet made an emergency landing after a "malfunction" in the aircraft, and made a safe landing on Changi Airport's runway 02R/20L.
The RSAF also added that the aircraft was found to have had a tire which was deflated after landing, and that no one was injured, according to its posts on Instagram and Facebook.
"At approximately 1210hrs on 14 Nov 23, an F-16 aircraft experienced a malfunction & landed safely at SG Changi Airport. It had a deflated tyre upon landing. No personnel was injured. The aircraft has been towed off the runway. The runway has been declared operational." (RSAF on X, Instagram and Facebook)
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the aircraft was towed from the runway at around 1.20pm, and reopened runway 02R/20L at about 1.35pm. Project AeroFlight understands that the first flight that took off from the affected runway was AirAsia Flight AK1776 to Kuching, which was at the holding point for more than an hour, before finally taking off at 1.39pm.
