Leidos Australia and RMIT University have announced the recipients of the Leidos Aviation Scholarship on 25 March 2025 at the Avalon Australian International Airshow. This marks the second year of the program supporting aspiring pilots in kickstarting their aviation career.
The scholarship receivers were invited to the Avalon Airshow to provide them with a extraordinary learning experience, a chance to meet professionals in the industry, as well as to celebrate their achievements.
This year, Leidos has expanded the program to offer more than AUD 150,000 across six scholarships for students in their final year of study at RMIT Aviation Academy. This comes after the five recipients of the scholarship last year graduated and commenced employment with Leidos.
James Woodhams, the Vice President of Leidos Airborne Solutions, said: “The aviation industry continues to face critical workforce shortages, and we are proud to be
playing an active role in addressing these challenges. We recognise that the cost of flight training can be a major barrier to entry for aspiring pilots. By providing financial support and exposure to specialist aviation careers, we are helping to shape a pipeline of highly skilled pilots who can support vital national operations.”
This scholarship program comes as a result of the successful partnership between Leidos Australia and RMIT University, which provides strengthened pathways for students to enter and ace in the aviation industry.
