On 26 May 2024, a Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered A7-BHM and operating as QTR1C/QR17 from Doha Hamad International Airport (OTHH/DOH) to Dublin Bhaile Átha Cliath Airport (EIDW/DUB), experienced moderately severe turbulence during the flight.

The aircraft landed safely at Dublin Airport at 12.55pm local time (GMT +1), which is the scheduled arrival time for the flight. As a result of the turbulent conditions, 12 people on the flight were injured, according to a statement by Dublin Airport.

Dublin Airport said in a statement:

"Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department, due to 6 passengers and 6 crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey."

According to reports, the whole ordeal lasted less than 20 seconds, and that the incident happened during meal service onboard.

This comes just days after a Singapore Airlines flight on a Boeing 777-300ER from London to Singapore diverted to Bangkok after encountering severe turbulence, resulting in the loss of one life, and injuring dozens of passengers.
